The Soča is famous for its unreal emerald colour, and rafting lets you experience that water from the middle of the valley. From Bovec, guided trips follow the current through a mix of gentler stretches and whitewater, with views of the Julian Alps all around. The exact route depends on river conditions and the group’s experience.

A river that changes with the water
The popular stretch from near Log Čezsoški to Trnovo ob Soči covers about 10 kilometres. It starts with easier rapids before building to more demanding sections, making the ride feel like a real journey down the river. A typical trip takes around two to three hours on the water, but operators may choose a different section as levels change.
Making it a Bovec day
Trips depart from Bovec, with guides, specialist equipment and transfers commonly arranged by the operator. You’ll paddle as a team, following the guide’s calls through the rapids. Swimming ability is required, and age or other participation limits vary by trip, so check the conditions for your group when booking. Bring a swimsuit and towel; ask what equipment and transport the price includes.

The Soča’s entry and exit points are regulated, and river permits are required. Ask whether the permit and any local river fees are included in your trip. Independent rafting needs both the permit and the skills to handle whitewater safely; the Go Soča portal has information for independent river users.
