Es Grau to Favàritx walk: Camí de Cavalls route and return

Plan the Camí de Cavalls stage from Es Grau to Favàritx, with route distance, coastal exposure and a practical return-transport checklist.

Arrange your return before walking from Es Grau toward Favàritx. This Camí de Cavalls stage finishes farther along Menorca's northeast coast, at the lighthouse. You'll need a way back from there.

The Consell Insular's stage description lists about 8.5 kilometres for the route. Walking back adds another full stage; allow for that before setting off with a single car.

The route crosses the core of Menorca's biosphere reserve within s'Albufera des Grau Natural Park. Wetlands and coves give way to the rocky country around Cap de Favàritx. Follow the signed Camí de Cavalls and use the official stage map to identify access points.

Allow extra time for beach stops and check where each detour rejoins the marked route. Protect the dunes by using the established access paths.

Book a pickup or check the transport available for your date. If you're returning on foot, plan for both directions. For a pickup, get the exact meeting point: seasonal access measures can affect where vehicles are allowed.

Save the driver's contact details and agree on what to do if you finish early or late. Arrange transport in advance so you have a way back when you arrive. If you plan to walk back, carry supplies for both directions.

A low coastal route can still feel tiring in hot or windy weather. Check the forecast before leaving. Take enough drinking water and protect yourself from the sun. Set a turnaround time that leaves room for a slower return.

Wear shoes suited to rough ground. Keep a dry layer handy for stops beside the water. Leave enough time after your last beach stop to reach the pickup without rushing.

An out-and-back walk from Es Grau lets you choose a distance that suits the group. Pick a clear turnaround point on the official map and keep track of the time used on the outward leg.

For other island and mainland routes, see our Spain hiking guide. Give your transport provider your planned finishing time and confirm where they can reach you under the current Favàritx access rules.
