The climb into Velika Paklenica’s mountain landscape ends at the entrance to Manita peć, where a cool underground world opens behind the limestone cliffs. Broad chambers are filled with stalactites, stalagmites and flowstone formations, built slowly over time. It is the park’s only cave open to visitors, and entry is by guided tour during a limited seasonal window, making this a special pairing of a mountain walk and a visit underground.

The hike through Velika Paklenica
The climb from the main car park takes around an hour and a half each way. The cave sits at about 570 metres above sea level, reached by a mountain path that leaves the canyon floor behind and climbs among the slopes of Paklenica. Plan for a substantial walk before the guided visit begins.
Plan around the guided visit
The cave is open only during a limited seasonal visiting window, with the most frequent tours in summer. The schedule can vary across spring and autumn, so check the park’s current calendar before choosing your day. The visiting window is 10:00–13:00, and you must reach the cave at least 30 minutes before closing; plan the hike around the guided tour rather than treating it as a stop you can add at any time.
View in GoExploringThe tour takes about 30 minutes and begins at the cave entrance. The cave stays cool year-round, so bring a layer even in summer. The tour ticket is sold at the cave entrance, with cash payment only. Park admission is separate.
