Acropolis tickets and the Parthenon: plan your Athens visit

Eastern view of the Parthenon on the Acropolis of Athens.

Book the right Acropolis ticket, explore the Parthenon and summit monuments, and find current access information for your Athens visit.

Rising above the center of Athens, the Acropolis brings the city’s ancient story into view all at once: the modern neighborhoods below, the rugged hill beneath your feet and, at its heart, the Parthenon. The approach through the Propylaea opens onto a summit filled with temples and traces of centuries of civic and religious life. Give yourself time to wander beyond the famous façade, and decide whether you want to pair the climb with the separate Acropolis Museum.

Tickets and entry

Book admission to the archaeological site through the Hellenic Heritage visitor page. The museum has a separate booking, so check what is included if you plan to visit both. Guided tours are optional; confirm whether your tour includes site admission.

What to see on the summit

The Parthenon naturally draws the eye, but the Erechtheion and Temple of Athena Nike make the summit feel like a whole place rather than a single landmark. Walk between them and look out across Athens: the scale of the city, the surrounding hills and the sea beyond help explain why this rocky height has held such a powerful place in its history. The Acropolis Museum adds another perspective, bringing sculptures and discoveries from the hill into a calm, modern setting below.

Access and comfort

The summit is exposed, with little shade and uneven stone underfoot. In hot weather, an earlier visit can make the climb more comfortable. Check current opening information before you go, as hours change through the year.

An elevator and accessible routes are available for visitors who meet the site’s eligibility requirements. Check the current arrangements with the Acropolis if you need step-free access.

Explore the summit on the map, then compare it with another Greek archaeological walk in our Delphi Sacred Way guide.
